Turkish Banking Giant Extends Ripple Partnership
Garanti BBVA Kripto, the digital asset arm of Turkey's second-largest private bank, has renewed its custody partnership with Ripple to secure assets such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and XRP using Ripple’s institutional-grade technology. Initially launched in 2024 with 14,000 early adopters, the platform has now expanded, furthering Ripple’s reach in digital asset custody.
The agreement builds on Ripple’s 2023 acquisition of custody firm Metaco and leverages a secure infrastructure by combining Ripple’s software with IBM’s LinuxONE hardware. BBVA’s nearly decade-long relationship with Ripple has included early DLT pilots and commercial rollouts, with BBVA Spain also integrating Ripple Custody as of 2025.
